A native of the eastern states of Australia in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania, its habitat extends from the coastal plains, Great Dividing Range and some western slopes presence.
An evergreen shrub to small tree growing to 4 metres with a spread of 3 metres, the stem is erect with angular branches and an open-textured crown; the leaves are dark green, lanceolate, 7cm long and aromatic when crushed; the flowers are white, pinkish or pale lavender, tubular, occurring in dense clusters in summer. Members of the genus Prostanthera are generally known as ‘Mint Bushes’ because of their aromatic foliage.
This plant likes medium, moist soils in a protected partially shaded position.
