The Dwarf Pomegranate (Punica granatum nana) is an extremely ornamental dwarf shrub to 60cm. It will grow in sun or part shade is frost hardy, tolerates drought and is suitable for low hedging, rock gardens or in a tub. Bonsai enthusiasts like to carry dwarfism one step further.
Attractive orange-scarlet flowers appear in Summer and Autumn followed by miniature edible fruit. New growth is a bronze colour that develops to a lustrous bright green.
This is a difficult seed to obtain and has been on order for several years.
