(This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List)
A native of northern Australia this plant prefers light to medium well-drained soil in an open, sunny position. It is both drought and frost resistant.
An evergreen tree to 7 metres with a spread of 3 metres, it has an erect stem and sparse branches forming a spreading crown of very elegant form. The leaves are large (up to 30cm across) silvery-blue and broadly sickle-shaped. The flowers are golden yellow balls appearing in dense clusters.
The large leaves give this drought tolerant plant a lush, tropical appearance.
The seed is quite large for an Acacia.
