Atalaya hemiglauca

(This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List.)

A native of the mainland states of Australia except Victoria where it is adaptable to most soils and prefers an open sunny position. It is drought and frost resistant.

An evergreen tree to 10 metres (30 feet) this tree is endemic to northern Australia and grows from the West Australian coast, across the arid inland (Alice Springs, Mount Isa and into north-west New South Wales) to the Queensland coast.

The stem is erect with grey, scaly bark while the leaves are a dull grey-green, pinnate with two to six leaflets. The flowers are small, greenish white but profuse. The fruit are winged seeds similar to a maple.

The leaves make good fodder for sheep and cattle and may be given to horses provided there is no young suckers or seed in it.

Offered is a packet of 15 seeds and Grownotes to assist you to cultivate this dry living tree.

All my seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
