A tree growing up to 10 metres depending on conditions, it has distinctive leaves being up to 45cm long and 10cm wide, strongly divided into triangular lobes to the midrib and are used in the florist industry as filler. The flowers are large and may be up to 40cm long by 9cm in diameter, occur in spring through mid summer and are pale yellow in colour. The Fruits are large cones that can be used ornamentally.
