Callistemon linearis

A native of New South Wales where it prefers light to heavy soils in a warm, moist position. It is frost hardy but dislikes drought. It has a broad habitat extending from the North, Central and South Coasts, the Northern and Central Tablelands, the North-West and Central-West Slopes to the North-West Plains.

An evergreen shrub growing to 4 metres with a spread of 2 metres. The stem is slender, branching and erect; leaves are narrow, stiff, dense and concave to 12cm long; the flowers stamens are bright red with darker tips, 15cm long and appear in spring and summer.

Propagation by seed occurs readily.
