 Eucalyptus melliodora

(This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List.)

A medium-sized tree with a very large habitat area. Its range is from Southern Queensland, the Western Slopes of NSW down to Central Victoria. It is an important source of nectar for the apiarist and is also a Koala food. Shire councils are favouring it as a street tree because it is not a ‘messy’ tree.

An evergreen, straight stemmed, medium tree growing to 30 metres (100ft)  in the wild. However, it is a much smaller tree in cultivation – 15 – 20 metres with a spread of 1.5 metres (5ft) and tending to weep. The dense, heavy crown is formed of grey-green, crescent-shaped leaves to 150mm (6″) and a tan bark that covers the stem to the branches and sheds in flakes with age.

The flowers are white, honey-scented, appear in clusters in late winter and are very attractive to bees.

This tree is drought and frost tolerant and of very good form.

Offered is a packet of 200 seeds (including chaff) with propagation notes. Buyers should read the disclaimer below.

DISCLAIMER.

All Eucalyptus/Corymbia seed is harvested from the wild under licence and is sold as a combination of fertilised/unfertilised (chaff) seed. In many cases, it is not possible to tell the difference. The ratio of fertilised seed varies greatly and depends wholly on weather conditions prior to seed set. Standard industry practice is to offer 200 seeds per packet which translate to something like 10 to 30 viable seeds (which have not been counted). If the above is not acceptable to you, please do not purchase any of the above seeds.

All my seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
