Eucalyptus woodwardii

(This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List.)

A small to medium sized tree from the south-eastern desert of West Australia that is known to be established in Israel and the USA.

An evergreen tree growing to 15 metres (75ft) with a spread of 3 metres (15ft) it prefers light to heavy, well drained soils in an open, sunny position. The stem is erect, straight and branching with smooth, greyish-brown bark and an open-textured, weeping crown; the leaves are dull green, broadly lanceolate to ovate, petioled and 15cm long; the flower buds are frosty grey occurring in groups of seven; the flowers are a brilliant yellow appearing from winter to summer while the fruit are greyish-brown capsules.

This tree comes from a small area around Kalgoorlie, W.A. and is well worth growing being both drought tolerant and accepting of moderate frosts.

Offered is a packet of 200 seeds (includes chaff) with propagation notes. Buyers should read the disclaimer below.

All Eucalyptus/Corymbia seed is harvested from the wild under licence and is sold as a combination of fertilised/unfertilised (chaff) seed. In many cases, it is not possible to tell the difference. The ratio of fertilised seed varies greatly and depends wholly on weather conditions prior to seed set. Standard industry practice is to offer 200 seeds per packet which translate to something like 10 to 30 viable seeds (which have not been counted). If the above is not acceptable to you, please do not purchase any of the above seeds.

All my seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
