The Lewisia is a tough little succulent that grows on North facing cliffs of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado and is one of the most sought-after rock garden plants. An evergreen succulent forming a fleshy rosette of dark green foliage, it prefers a full sun position in cool climates and a partially shaded position in warm ones. USDA Zones 3 – 9.
This plant, grown in rock gardens, crevices, containers or baskets it should be treated like any other succulent with a dry, sandy, free-draining soil mix and like all succulents, is drought tolerant once established.
Besides a gorgeous garden display up to 4 times per year, it also makes a very good cut flower.
