This tree is a native of Queensland and New South Wales where it is often used as a street tree and is known to grow well as far south as Melbourne.
An evergreen tree to 25 metres in the wild, it grows considerably smaller in cultivation. It has dark green, glossy leaves that are variously lobed or entire. The flowers are orange-red in whorls of 7 centimetres which appear in summer. It is a slow growing tree for about 3 years but has reasonable growth thereafter.
A rainforest plant and member of the Proteaceae family, this tree will tolerate light frosts.
Offered as a packet of 20 seeds with grownotes.
