Bramwell’s Giant Houseleek
Aeonium davidbramwellii
(This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List)
A native of the Canary Islands, this rare plant has been named after David Bramwell, a curator at the Canary Islands Botanical Gardens who worked tirelessly to preserve the native flora there.
Bearing light green leaves with reddish-brown margins in a compact rosette that can grow up to 30 cm (12 in) across, this plant makes an attractive addition to any garden or collection. Each rosette produces a single flower spike then dies back when the basal stem produces offsets and the process begins again for each rosette. The flowers are broad clusters of reddish white blooms.
