Common Stonecrop
Sedum acre
(This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List)
This Sedum is a hardy, evergreen, perennial succulent with a golden yellow flower head containing hundreds of individual flowers. The succulent leaves are green tinged with red.
Growing to a height of just 10-16cm, it will thrive in full sun, tolerate hot, dry, salt and very cold conditions but no shade.
Sedums are very adaptable and only require sun and well-drained soils. They are ideal for rock gardens, pot culture, wall niches and mass planted as a flowering groundcover. They tolerate deer, rabbits, drought, heat & humidity, pollution, seashore (salt), slopes, wind and arctic conditions.
Flowering time is late summer to autumn.
This plant is also edible and rich in Vitamin C. As the taste is acrid and bitter it is mainly used as survival food. The leaves can be dried and powdered to add a peppery taste to foods.
Offered is a packet of 100 seeds with Grownotes to assist you.
