A perennial, evergreen plant native to Western Australia where it prefers light to medium moist soils in a protected, shady position. It will not tolerate drought or frost.

A perennial shrub, it grows to a height and spread of 1 metre. The stem is erect with slender branches while the crown is very dense. The leaves are ovate to lanceolate, heart shaped at the base, opposite, clasping, leathery and 10 cm long. The flowers, in terminal clusters, are yellow suffused with red and appear from spring to summer.

This lovely, small plant, though easily grown, is not often seen in cultivation.
