Eucalyptus propinqua – Small Fruited Grey Gum seed x200

A native of New South Wales and Queensland coastal plain from Newcastle to Maryborough where it prefers light to medium, well-drained soils in an open, sunny position. It is drought and frost resistant.

An evergreen tree growing to 50 metres (150ft) with a spread of 8 metres (24ft). The stem is erect, stately and branching, with a finely granular bark and a densely textured crown; the leaves are bright, glossy green, discolorous (top and underside of leaf are different), curved, lanceolate 12cm long; the flower buds are small and club-shaped occurring in groups of 5 to 11; the flowers are small and white appearing in late summer.

The leaves of this tree are known to be on the diet of the Koala.

All Eucalyptus/Corymbia seed is harvested from the wild under licence and is sold as a combination of fertilised/unfertilised (chaff) seed. In many cases, it is not possible to tell the difference. The ratio of fertilised seed varies greatly and depends wholly on weather conditions prior to seed set. Standard industry practice is to offer 200 seeds per packet which translate to something like 10 to 30 viable seeds (which have not been counted). If the above is not acceptable to you, please do not purchase any of the above seeds.
